This is a small adobe cabin built in 1880 to house a miner and his family. It is located near the west end of Chloride, in Sierra County.
After the silver boom ended in 1896, the cabin became the home of a timber worker, and later became the home of a ranch hand. The cabin was eventually used as a ‘hunting shack’.
When purchased by the current owners in the 1990s, the cabin had stood empty for about 70 years, and was in a dilapidated condition. The roof was replaced immediately to protect the adobes and to keep it in a restorable condition.
Restoration is now in process. It will be available as a vacation cabin for visitors to the historic silver town of Chloride.
