The 2012 Robb Concert, presented by the John Donald Robb Musical Trust at the University of New Mexico, will celebrate the New Mexico Centennial. The program will include a Robb composition, “Song for New Mexico,” and Frank McCulloch y sus Amigos will perform Hispanic folk songs. Lily del Castillo will interact as a choreographer and Lina Ramos will sing music of Robb with Hispanic folk song influence. The finale will be the New Mexico State Song, “O Fair New Mexico,” presented as a sing-along.
John Donald Robb, former dean of the UNM College of Fine Arts, was also a musician and composer, and traveled across northern New Mexico in the mid-20th century recording traditional Hispanic folk songs, which are preserved in the John Donald Robb Archive of Southwestern Music at UNM Libraries.
