Billy the Kid Geofest

The 2nd Annual Billy the Kid Geofest will convene at Fort Stanton State Monument in the picnic area (N 33° 29.660 W 105° 31.523′) – northeast corner as you drive in on the Fort access road, or in one of the Fort buildings if weather is inclement. The picnic area is right next to the Museum/Visitor Center and a couple hundred feet or so west of GC1T047 Great Generations. There is plenty of parking.

Sponsored by the Billy the Kid National Scenic Byway, the geocache sites are scattered along the Byway. At rendezvous time we’ll do a cookout or BBQ back at start location. Camping can be on the 24,000 (+) acres of BLM-managed public land of the surrounding the Fort (Fort Stanton-Snowy River Cave National Conservation Area), at Cave Campground (primitive) or Horse Trails Campground, which has RV electricity and potable water.
