This is a traditional cattle drive featuring 100 head of longhorn cattle bearing the special New Mexico Centennial brand. The drive starts on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 in Lea County at the Delaware Basin Road and the Carlsbad Hwy. (NM 128), and ends Saturday, May 12, 2012 in Eddy County. The cattle will be auctioned at the Eddy county Sheriff’s Posse Arena, in Carlsbad New Mexico.
Anyone wishing to participate in the cattle drive itself should contact Trail Boss Bert Madera of the Pitch Fork Cattle Company (www.pitchforkcattle.com). Visitors can attend the chuck wagon meals every evening with traditional cowboy music and entertainment, but should purchase tickets quickly because there will be a limited number available for each night.
Updated information will be available on the Western Heritage Museum Complex website soon.
