Late in the morning on Saturday, January 7, 2012, a parade to mark the significant passage of one hundred years of statehood for New Mexico will wind its way through historic downtown Las Cruces.
Starting with 1912 and Before, at 11:00 a.m., and ending with 2012 and Beyond, the parade will devote about 10 minutes to each decade for a 100 minute parade to commemorate 100 years of statehood for New Mexico and what it has meant to this part of the state. Thus, cars, equipment, representations of people and events, people born, and schools and groups formed in each decade will pass along the parade route. A special F-22 Raptor fly-over will occur at exactly 11:35, marking 100 years and one day of statehood for New Mexico.
More than 100 entries will be participating on Church and Water Streets in downtown Las Cruces to be followed by a special commemoration at the Farmers and Crafts Market at 1:00.
Everyone is invited to be there!
