No Crystal Stair

Centennial children’s author, Vaunda Nelson, will offer a talk about being selected for this prestigious title. She will present her new young adult documentary novel, No Crystal Stair: A Documentary Novel of the Life and Work of Lewis Michaux, Harlem Bookseller.

Ms. Nelson will be signing books following the program. Books will also be for sale. Ms. Nelson is the children’s librarian at the Esther Bone Memorial Library. In 2010 she won the Coretta Scott Kind award for the book, Bad News for Outlaws: The Remarkable Life of Bass Reeves, Deputy U.S. Marshall.
